Judy Craymer, who conceived and created the global smash hit stage musical, produced MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE and brought the original creative team, director Phyllida Lloyd and writer Catherine Johnson, to repeat their roles in bringing MAMMA MIA! to the big screen with Universal Pictures.
Ten years after MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE grossed more than $600 million around the world, Judy Craymer produced an all-new movie musical based on the songs of ABBA for Universal Pictures. MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN, written and directed by Ol Parker, and featuring Cher, Andy Garcia and Lily James alongside the returning cast of the original movie, was released in July 2018.
Upon release, it became the most successful live musical movie sequel of all time. In the UK it became the second highest grossing opening day for a movie musical, the second highest grossing film of 2018, and third highest grossing musical and Universal’s 2nd highest grossing film ever. It was Ireland’s biggest film of the year and also the second biggest (non-animation) musical in Ireland (behind MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE). Internationally, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN opened No.1 in 26 markets and had the biggest musical opening day/weekend of all time in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Hungary.
